As a reminder for our playerbase, the Liaison Team as a whole are two separate groups: The New Player Liaisons, and the Liaison Mediation Team.

New Player Liaisons will be our first contact point for new players, and any questions/concerns they might have. Individuals in this role are more likely to deal with things offsite, or guide people to the proper channels in case they are unsure of who to contact directly.

The Liaison Mediation Team will deal with more complicated to unwrap issues, such as accusations of metagaming, cheating, player/staff conflict issues, and find a way to ideally navigate them into a success resolution. Individuals in this role are more likely to deal with issues on site.

However, please keep in mind that this is a game, and we are all mostly adults, our few Pages aside. Players are expected to be able to comport themselves in a way that they can work together, as at the end of the day this is a collaborative game for everyone’s enjoyment.

And to be clear, this is a volunteer organization and all our staff are here to have fun too. None of our staff is trained in mental health fields, and to expect them to be as such is frankly very unfair. The overuse of the Liaison Team for player/player Mediation as a first resort (of which it is not to be used) as a whole has been very unfair to our volunteers, and as such we are putting out this reminder.

If you feel unsafe on a mod, leave the mod. Call a hold. Take action. Safety marshals can only do so much when a situation isn’t brought up, as everyone makes mistakes, even our volunteers from time to time.

If you feel unsafe in a conversation, leave the conversation. “No thank you Evil” is one such means of doing so.

It feels that every event that goes by, we (the chapter staff) become more and more responsible for each individual's mental health and safety in every scenario and we simply can't do that. Be the action you wish to see. The various teams are always recruiting, as many hands make for a lighter load.
